Job Overview

Siemens is hiring a Software Developer – Train IT to work on diagnostic and data analysis platforms for rail vehicles. The role involves developing embedded software, defining system requirements, integrating external devices, working with Linux-based systems, and supporting software integration and testing. The selected candidate will work on locomotive projects, collaborate with engineers and global teams, and contribute to software solutions for vehicle diagnostics and communication systems.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Define system requirements and system interface specifications for vehicle diagnostic systems.
  2. Work on engineering projects for locomotives and develop software solutions for global rail applications.
  3. Gather, analyze, and structure software requirements.
  4. Create solution concepts and software architectures for data remote transmission.
  5. Integrate external devices with vehicle control systems for diagnostics management and landside communication.
  6. Develop software for embedded systems using the Linux operating system.
  7. Provide technical support and guidance to other development engineers.
  8. Communicate and collaborate with engineers and stakeholders throughout the development process.
  9. Perform software integration and testing to ensure functionality on vehicles.
  10. Implement upgrades and new application software with end-to-end responsibility.
  11. Follow the V-model approach during software development activities.
  12. Analyze and resolve technical issues related to embedded systems and communication.
  13. Support the development of diagnostic and data analysis platforms.
  14. Contribute to system-level development and integration activities.
  15. Work with international project teams and support project requirements across different locations.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable discipline.
  2. Initial experience in technical development projects is preferred.
  3. Experience with structured and object-oriented software development for embedded systems is required.
  4. Candidates should have experience with C++ and Python programming.
  5. Knowledge of the Linux operating system is required.
  6. Basic knowledge of requirements engineering is preferred.
  7. Understanding of configuration management and change request management is beneficial.
  8. Knowledge of IEC 50128, IEC 61131, or IEC 61375 standards is an added advantage.
  9. Familiarity with TCN protocol and related communication debugging is an added advantage.
  10. Candidates should have a systematic and independent approach to problem-solving.
  11. Strong communication and collaboration skills are expected.
