Job Overview

Deloitte is hiring an entry-level Quality Engineer for its Analytics Horizontal team in Hyderabad. The role involves testing analytics solutions such as reports, dashboards, data pipelines, APIs, and AI-enabled applications. The selected candidate will work with developers, analysts, product owners, and business teams to create test cases, validate data, identify defects, and support regression and release testing. The role also provides opportunities to learn testing practices, analytics platforms, automation tools, and enterprise technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Understand project requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules.
  2. Prepare test scenarios, test cases, test data, and requirement traceability documents.
  3. Perform functional, integration, system, regression, exploratory, UI, API, and end-to-end testing.
  4. Test reports and dashboards for data accuracy, calculations, filters, drill-downs, and usability.
  5. Validate data between source and target systems using SQL and data comparison techniques.
  6. Check data completeness, accuracy, consistency, transformations, reconciliations, and refreshes.
  7. Test ETL and ELT workflows, API integrations, files, scheduled jobs, and cloud-based data processes.
  8. Perform positive, negative, boundary, and failure scenario testing.
  9. Test AI-enabled applications for functionality, response quality, permissions, guardrails, and error handling.
  10. Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects with proper supporting evidence.
  11. Retest resolved defects and perform regression testing before releases.
  12. Support test automation by creating or maintaining reusable testing scripts.
  13. Participate in Agile meetings, defect discussions, test reporting, and release activities.
  14. Maintain test suites, test data, quality metrics, and testing documentation.
  15. Suggest improvements to increase test coverage, product quality, and delivery efficiency.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science or a related field.
  2. This is an entry-level opportunity suitable for candidates starting their careers in software quality engineering.
  3. Candidates should have a basic understanding of software testing and the software development life cycle.
  4. Knowledge of SQL and relational databases is required.
  5. Candidates should be comfortable working with data and investigating application or data-related issues.
  6. Exposure to testing through academic projects, internships, or practical experience will be useful.
  7. Candidates should be willing to learn new testing tools, analytics platforms, and business processes.

Required Skills

  1. Basic knowledge of software testing concepts.
  2. Understanding of the software development life cycle and defect life cycle.
  3. Ability to convert requirements into test scenarios and test cases.
  4. Basic SQL knowledge, including joins, filters, aggregations, and reconciliation checks.
  5. Understanding of data-quality concepts such as accuracy, completeness, consistency, uniqueness, validity, and timeliness.
  6. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
  7. Basic knowledge of API, web application, dashboard, or data-pipeline testing.
  8. Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar defect-tracking and test-management tools.
  9. Basic programming or scripting knowledge in Python, C#, JavaScript, or similar languages.
  10. Exposure to Selenium, Playwright, Postman, or other testing tools is beneficial.
  11. Knowledge of Power BI, QlikView, Qlik Sense, SSRS, Bold Reports, or similar reporting tools is useful.
  12. Awareness of ETL/ELT, REST APIs, relational databases, and data warehouses.
  13. Basic understanding of cloud technologies such as AWS S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, or Databricks.
  14. Interest in AI and GenAI application testing, including response evaluation and guardrails.
  15. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills.
