Job Overview
Apple is hiring an Applied ML Intern for its Wireless Technology and Ecosystems team in Bengaluru. The role focuses on applied AI/ML research involving real-world engineering data and cellular technologies. The selected candidate will work with engineers and researchers to develop AI/ML-driven solutions, create research prototypes, analyze complex problems, and help develop technologies for wireless products such as iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with engineers and researchers on applied AI/ML research problems.
- Develop AI/ML-driven solutions for real-world engineering challenges.
- Work on problems involving cellular technologies and wireless systems.
- Develop research prototypes using innovative AI/ML approaches.
- Analyze real-world engineering datasets.
- Formulate machine learning problems from ambiguous engineering challenges.
- Develop and evaluate ML models using appropriate experimental methods.
- Analyze model failures and identify opportunities to improve model performance.
- Improve model robustness and generalization.
- Read and implement ideas from AI/ML research papers.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates should be PhD students in their 2nd year or beyond.
- The PhD should be in AI/ML, Computer Science, Communication Engineering, or a related field.
- Candidates should have strong fundamentals in Machine Learning, Statistics, and Optimization.
- Candidates should have strong programming skills in Python and JavaScript.
- Candidates should understand software development concepts, algorithms, data structures, Operating Systems, and software engineering practices.
- Candidates should be able to understand and implement concepts from AI/ML research papers.
- Candidates should have strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Candidates should have good technical communication and collaboration skills.
