Job Description

The Software Test Engineer is responsible for executing test procedures, validating software functionality, and ensuring software quality before deployment. This role requires hands-on experience in software testing, troubleshooting, and automation in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Execute test procedures and scripts manually or using automated tools.
2. Monitor and report test execution status to ensure quality assurance.
3. Capture and document test results for analysis and risk assessment.
4. Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and provide resolutions.
5. Compare system behavior with expected outcomes to identify issues.
6. Suggest and implement system improvements based on test results.
7. Participate in design reviews and contribute to test material development.
8. Maintain test environments and ensure data integrity for testing cycles.
9. Support deployment activities by verifying software functionality.
10. Work closely with developers and business teams to understand requirements.
11. Ensure compliance with software testing standards and best practices.
12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve defects and improve software quality.

Technical Skills Required

1. Experience with Telecom Billing Systems (Preferred).
2. Knowledge of System Testing Life Cycle (STLC) and software quality processes.
3. Hands-on experience in Mainframe Batch Processing with JCL, COBOL, VSAM, and CICS.
4. Proficiency in DB2, IMS, and IDMS databases for testing and debugging.
5. Experience with Batch Scheduler tools (ESP/CA7) for automated processing.
6. Ability to resolve abend errors and troubleshoot batch job failures.
7. Hands-on experience with Connect Direct (C:D) and MQ Series for file transfers.
8. Test data preparation and execution for batch cycles.
9. Experience with Test and Defect Management Tools for tracking and resolution.
10. Proficiency in Test Design, Execution, and Automation Tools (QTP, REX).
11. Knowledge of at least one cloud platform (AWS, Azure) is preferred.
12. Strong stakeholder collaboration and communication skills for coordination.
