Job Overview
Siemens Limited is hiring a Software Developer – Train IT for its Mobility business in Pune. The role focuses on developing and maintaining diagnostic and data-analysis platforms for rail vehicles, including software for vehicle diagnostics and remote data transmission.
The selected candidate will work on locomotive engineering projects, define system requirements and interfaces, develop embedded software for Linux-based systems, integrate external devices, and support software integration and testing on vehicles. The position also involves working with engineers and stakeholders across the development process.
Key Responsibilities
- Define system requirements and interface specifications for vehicle diagnostic systems.
- Gather, analyse and structure software requirements, then develop solution concepts and software architectures for remote data transmission.
- Integrate and develop external devices connected to vehicle control systems for diagnostics and landside communication.
- Develop software for embedded systems running Linux and provide technical guidance to fellow engineers.
- Carry out software integration and testing to verify functionality on the vehicle.
- Take end-to-end responsibility for application software upgrades and new development using a V-model approach.
- Communicate and collaborate with engineers and stakeholders throughout development.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, or a comparable discipline.
- Initial experience in technical development projects.
- Structured and independent approach to solving complex problems, with good communication skills.
- Willingness to travel as required; the listing indicates travel may be around 15–20% depending on project needs.
Required Skills
- Structured and object-oriented software development for embedded systems.
- C++ and Python programming.
- Linux operating system experience.
- Basic knowledge of requirements engineering, configuration management and change request management.
- Knowledge of standards such as IEC 50128, IEC 61131 or IEC 61375 is an advantage.
- Familiarity with the TCN protocol and debugging communication issues is an advantage.
