Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain scalable data pipelines in Hadoop and Spark.
- Write optimized SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
- Collaborate with FCSO development and business teams on data requirements.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, versioning, and source control.
- Support regulatory and compliance-related data engineering needs.
- Handle structured, semi-structured, and raw data for analysis.
- Design ELT/ETL workflows for large-scale data processing.
- Implement automation for recurring data jobs using orchestration tools.
- Troubleshoot and debug data-related issues effectively.
- Document data models, processes, and workflows for reference.
- Participate in Agile or Waterfall-based project lifecycles.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve data efficiency and quality.
- Support risk, compliance, and conduct principles of the bank.
- Provide proactive solutions for performance optimization.
- Ensure data projects align with Standard Chartered’s values and objectives.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical and structured problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of Hadoop, HDFS, and Hive.
- Proficiency in PySpark for big data processing.
- Hands-on experience with SQL for large datasets.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps for CI/CD.
- Understanding of Control-M or similar job orchestration tools.
- Knowledge of coding standards and software development lifecycle.
- Ability to handle raw, unstructured data efficiently.
- Familiarity with reporting tools like Tableau, Dataiku, or MicroStrategy.
- Understanding of enterprise data warehouse concepts.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new frameworks and tools.
- Knowledge of reference data management.
- Basic understanding of compliance and data governance.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
