Job Overview

Virtusa is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Software Testing Engineer to join its team in Hyderabad. The role focuses on testing RESTful APIs using REST Assured and ensuring software quality and reliability. The selected candidate will create and execute test cases, perform functional and regression testing, document defects, and work closely with development teams. Candidates with 0–2 years of experience, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and basic knowledge of Java or Python can apply. Internship or project experience in software testing is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop test cases for RESTful APIs using REST Assured.
  2. Execute API tests to check application functionality and reliability.
  3. Work with development teams to understand application requirements.
  4. Identify testing needs based on software functionality.
  5. Perform functional testing to verify software behaviour.
  6. Conduct regression testing after software changes.
  7. Support performance testing to assess application performance.
  8. Document test results clearly and accurately.
  9. Report software defects with relevant details.
  10. Participate in code reviews and provide feedback on software testability.
  11. Work with team members to improve software quality.
  12. Identify opportunities to improve testing processes.
  13. Follow suitable software testing methods and practices.
  14. Support the continuous improvement of testing procedures.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. Should have 0–2 years of experience in software testing.
  3. Must have strong knowledge of REST Assured for API testing.
  4. Should understand basic software testing methodologies and the software testing life cycle.
  5. Must be familiar with at least one programming language, such as Java or Python.
  6. Should be able to work collaboratively with a team.
  7. Relevant internships or software testing projects are an advantage.
  8. Knowledge of Agile methodologies and CI/CD processes is preferred.
