Morningstar is seeking an Associate Quantitative Analyst to join its Indexes New Product Development Team in Navi Mumbai. The role involves supporting the development of next-generation benchmark indexes across equity and fixed-income asset classes. Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative/Engineering/Mathematics/Statistics disciplines
Salary: ₹8,00,000 – ₹15,00,000 per annum (India market estimate)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in developing next-generation benchmark indexes
- Support index development across equity and fixed-income asset classes
- Validate, curate, and analyze large datasets
- Assist in methodology development for benchmark indexes
- Collaborate with global research teams
- Work with quantitative, equity, sustainability, and manager research groups
- Develop thematic and smart beta indexes
- Contribute to ideation and design phases of index development
- Support development through implementation and launch
- Work with internal index teams for operationalizing methodologies
- Provide analytical support for index innovation
- Prepare presentations for global research teams and clients
- Ensure accuracy and reliability of index data inputs
- Apply quantitative techniques for index design
- Document processes thoroughly throughout the development lifecycle
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s degree in quantitative/engineering/mathematics/statistics
- Proficiency in Python or R
- Experience with SQL, Postgres, or SQL Server
- Ability to work with large, complex datasets
- Understanding of financial ratios (preferred)
- Basic knowledge of portfolio theory (preferred)
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to simplify complex ideas for presentations
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of index methodologies (preferred)
- Desire to work across full product development cycle
- Detail-oriented approach to data validation
- Strong organizational skills
- Progress toward CFA designation (desirable)
